MSR series heat tracing cables are exceptional heating cables. Constructed of a semi-conductive heater polymer(also named as “PTC”) extruded between parallel bus wires with the addition of insulation layer. They are widely applied to pipelines and storage tanks for process temperature maintenance.

With a holding temperature up to 105℃,MSR self-regulating heat tracing cables are fit for various applications, except for those of steam purging.

Also, they can be used for anti-freeze of large pipes and applications where medium exposure temperatures are required.

As the heating elements are parallel to each other, it can regulate its heat output automatically all along its length according to the change of the ambient temperature, at low temperatures,the polymer shrinks, there are many conductive paths, allowing current to flow between conductors, on the contrary, as temperature increases, it disconnects the circuit to reduce heat generation automatically, then it loops depending on the change of the temperature.

In some applications, for maintaining a precise target operating temperature, use of a thermostat is recommended.


In addition to the advantages of self-limiting temperature, it can wrap itself without the danger of overheating. Furthermore, due to the parallel structure design, this high temperature cable can be cut in length according to different needs.


MSR-J is the basic middle temperature heating cable type, with the Max.maintain temperature up to 105℃ (221°F), while the Max.exposure temperature is 135℃ (275°F).Generally used in places where there is no explosion-proof or anti-corrosion requirements, and the environmental humidity is not high.

MSR-P/F is enhanced with an additional aluminum-magnesium alloy braid(tinned cooper for option), sheathed by a fluoropolymer out jacket. Compared to MSR-J, it has a good performance on anti-corrosive, also with characteristic of explosion proof, ideal for places with explosion-proof requirements, especially chemicals, power supply and other places need corrosion resistance.

Self regulating heat tracing cable, also know as self-limiting heating tape, is used to maintain or raise the temperature of pipes and vessels, particularly, it can automatically adjusts heat output based on surface temperature. Low resistance for temperatures below the cable set point and high resistance for temperatures above the cable set point. When the cable temperature reaches the set point the resistance reaches a high point and resulting in no more heat being supplied.



One more benefit of this cable is the ability to cut to length in the field. It is more rugged, and much more reliable than a constant wattage cable; it wouldn't over-heat itself so it can be crossed over.


Set the electrical heating tapes in physical contact along the length of a pipe. The pipe is usually covered with thermal insulation in order to retain heat losses from the pipe. The electric resistance then generates heat and maintains the temperature of the pipe. With a maximum operating up to 110℃, MSR heat trace cable could be used to protect pipes from freezing, snow melting on the driveways, to maintain a constant flow temperature in hot water systems, or to maintain process temperatures for piping that must transport substances that solidify at ambient temperatures. Electric trace heating cables are an alternative to steam trace heating while steam is unavailable or unwanted. Also, in cold winter days, heating tape is an ideal way to provide a free path for the melted water to get off the roof and down the downspout or drain piping.
